Mostly brilliant, I love hilly races so this suited me fine. Only criticism is the mile markers, these were so far out as to be useless. Not a problem for those of us with GPS but very tough on new runners. E.g. Mile 2 at 1.90, mile 3 at 3.22, mile 4 at 3.85! Support around the course was fantastic!

Great event: some of the most supportive and generally great marshals I've ever met on a race. That they kept the cheering up right to the back of the field, where it was most needed, was fantastic. The girls on the junction of the downhill lane and main road into Hursley need special mention: they started cheering when we were still a good 400 m away, and kept right on until we had disappeared from view. Awesome support. Fab bling, well-placed loos and water for a hot day and fab High Street finish.

I enjoyed the event even given the long uphill start and made a much better time than I had dared to hope. The tannoy /music system at the start and finish was a bit distorted and difficult to hear (or am I just getting old), and actually I could have done without the musac being so loud.

Scenic route, well marshalled, excellent atmosphere and decent bling. Only one complaint- Goodie bags leave a lot to be desired - take a look at white star running for inspiration.

A nice course although hilly, water stations were manned very well and start/finish location was excellent. Slightly narrow to begin with but that wasn't a very bad thing, given it was chip-timed it spread people out nicely.

Great challenging route. Mile markers were off, in particular the 7 mile mark was half a mile too early.

Great day, great volunteers, will definitely do again.

The main concern for me is it is too close to the Clarendon marathon. I am running both, but might not in future and may have kept folk away?

Overall a well organised awesome run around historic Winchester and the surrounding countryside! I enjoyed the pre-race Twitter and Facebook hype. The race village (aka Winchester Guildhall and High Street) was setup well with barriers, banners, music, PA making for a great atmosphere. Bag drop was well organised and easy. There were plenty of men's toilets although it looked like there as an excessive queue for the ladies toilets (not that it affected me - being a man). I'd liked to have seen more gaps in the barriers at the start to allow you to get in / out without having to walk to the back of the crowd (This would have allowed you to get into position based on predicted time and avoid congestion at the start). Tall, highly visible predicted finish time markers in the starting pen would also have been great so people could position themselves accordingly. There were plenty of highly visible pace makers which was great for those who were PB hunting. Loads of friendly marshals. Great route signage. A brilliant quiet (traffic free almost) route with large quantity of drinks (and ample drinks stations). Not a flat route but not mountainous either. This made it a challenging run for those chasing fast times and first timers alike. The variety of elevation made for a more interesting route. Plenty of lovely countryside to keep your mind off the hills when out of the city. Apparently, traffic was a problem for people coming into Winchester from the motor way (heading towards St Cross road and diverted to Badger Farm) during the event. I left Winchester at around 12:30 and traffic was backed up from Badger Farm all the way to the motorway! I'll be back for 2017!

Generally well organized race with friendly marshalls and a good atmosphere amongst the runners and from the supporters out on the course. My only observation would be that trying to add the pace runners in at the last minute was a mistake. It would have been better to have had signs in the race start area indicating times so fast runners go to the front and slower runners go towards the back and then the pace runners simply join the start at their sign just before the gun goes. Also, I think the 12 mile mark was too early. Otherwise very enjoyable race and would considered entering again.

The Winchester Half Marathon was a fantastic event! I arrived early, dropped my bag off, collected my t-shirt and used the bathroom before the race started! The bathrooms were much nicer than I was expecting, which was lovely! There was a warm-up session just before the race started, but was not visible to everyone. There were timing runners throughout the race; However, they did not queue up with everyone, so it was a little bit difficult to tell. Despite that, there were plenty of supporters throughout the course, lots of water destinations & I believe there were also bathrooms on route. The route was quite hilly, but this was a challenge! At the end of the race there were medals, bananas and water. The first aid team were brilliant as well.

An exhilarating experience, my first attempt at running this kind of distance. Good support along the route and the finish really made a difference.
