Hi Beatriz, Thanks for your feedback, we are glad you had a good experience in South Africa. I understand that your flight was cancelled at the last minute so this could be due to a last-minute change in pick-up time. We mention to the participants that in case of a last minute change, you should contact the in country coordinators directly so that they can inform the airport pickup staff immediately. I think this was something which was not done from your end due to which there was a delay in the pickup. You and your friend joined the program for 4 weeks only and the last day for the program on which the volunteers depart is Saturday. Since you wanted to stay an extra night at the hostel, the coordinators asked you for an extra night payment. All volunteers in Cape Town arrive on a Sunday and depart on Saturday only. Those arriving early or staying for more number of days are required to pay extra night charges. In regards to your placement, the local team has informed us that you were offered to move to an alternative clinic, and you had agreed. They had arranged the new project and you had then changed your mind at the last minute, and decided to stay at their original clinic. Participants in the South Africa Medical Program can do shadowing/observing and basis assisting work only and this was explained clearly to you earlier. In regards to your complaint about the transportation guidelines and timings for pickup, we had explained to you in detail over the email communication that we need to follow a time frame for the pickup and volunteers doing the projects in Galle are provided pick up only from the Colombo airport and cannot be pickup from any location in Sri Lanka. We need to follow this policy since Galle is more than 2 hrs from the airport and pickups can be done during scheduled hours only. We look forward to having you in our other programs soon !!
