I have now used lighter gauge strings on two of my acoustics. Since the guitars have an EQ built in I can still get the darker tones on the wound strings. I like them because I can bend like I am playing electric and I need every break I can get. They stay bright a long time. So far so great!

I have ordered my custom set due to there being a lack of strings with the gauges I need in the "regular" market. After receiving because i play an 8 string guitar and play to super low tunings the lowest string I have will not fit thru the tuning posted expected. You can either drill a bigger hole or unwrap the string a little bit and there will be no problems after that. The strings themselves are very good and have a nice tone to them. One thing to keep in mind if your going with super thick gauge strings and down tuning they won't sound as bright as the thinner more up tuned strings. Otherwise I highly recommend these strings it's been about a month or so since I changed then but they still got some life in them even with the off and on playing. Great strings great customer support Scott is the man.

I’ve used D'Addario EL 120 for many, many years. I am playing Stringjoy 9-42 custom set at the moment. They seem to settle in faster than D’Addario.. The feel is good, playability is good and good tone on my tonal camilion, ‘72 Fender Jaguar. Playing along with CD’s through a Fender Mustang III sampler amp, I’m able to do twin guitars. Stringjoy may be a keeper.
