I give them a 5 because they deserve it. In an impersonal world Stringjoy goes far beyond other manufacturers to give the musician what they need. I have never been displeased with any of their strings, and though I did venture out to find something better, I have not.

I have a 12 string. So, There’s always a tradeoff between a robust sound and dangerous neck tension. Customizing a set makes it possible for me to find the best of both worlds.

Played classical for about 60 years until arthritis became a problem. Switch to acoustic for the narrower and thinner neck. Quite an adjustment period. Still a finger picker. spent about 2 years experimenting with strings to get the playability and sound that I wanted. Pretty much settled upon D'Addario 10-47 Phosphor/Bronze, with a plain 3rd substituted to the wrapped 3rd that is supplied. Very good, but not quite there. Naturals 10-50 Phosphor/Bronze with 3 plain are perfect. Beautifully balanced. wonderful tone , fabulous sustain. At
