My kids are excited about history. They love the pictures, the text is at the right reading level for several grades. The workbooks, map book, timeline book, story book, and the student pages are great enhancers and the kids enjoy doing the exercises.

I think the literature questions should be in both workbooks. I only bought one of the workbooks because it was suggested that both workbooks weren't needed especially for a fifth grader but I also wanted to do the literature component.

I have been using Notgrass for 4 years now. I love the curriculum. Although a certain number of writing assignments are mandatory for every student there is a choice in most units for the creative and artistic to use their talents too. I hear my kids talking about things they have learned and even though it challenges them sometimes they seem to truly enjoy the process with this curriculum. I like that there are three subjects combined and they can use their skills in a comprehensive manner instead of each subject being separated and unrelated to one another. The cohesiveness makes it easier to teach and easier to learn.

We love how the curriculum is laid out and the literature selections are wonderful. We plan on using Notgrass History throughout high school.
