I really like it, but I was hoping that the workbook would be a little more indepth. The children enjoy listening and drawing pictures, but my 3rd grader could do so much more with it. We love it though!

I have been using Notgrass History with three of my daughters for the last few years. I LOVE the History curriculum and plan for this to be our History curriculum through graduation. I was so excited when I heard you were coming out with an Elementary course. We haven't gotten very far into it, but I am loving it. I just love how Notgrass is laid out. I can rest easy knowing that I have one less thing to plan. The only thing I see so far in Our Star-Spangled Story is with the Literature activity at the end of each lesson, I wish that it told you which chapters to read for the literature selection. Now I just need to divide it out to see if we have to read more than one chapter per lesson. It's not that hard, but with the middle school it indicates the chapters to read and that is nice. Overall, I love the curriculum and plan to use all of your courses for History. Thank you!

I'm using the elementary history curriculum for my 3rd grade girl. The lessons are short enough that I do not completely lose her (she would rather do art) and she is able to retain the information quite well.

Rich and engaging and wonderful. So enjoyable!! Even my child who doesn't usually like history is learning AND keeps saying "history is fun." I, as a teacher, am particularly enjoying learning about some dear Christian men and women who were very important to USA history but less well known and certainly not covered in secular history textbooks.
We needed to change the pace of the curriculum to fit our family, but Notgrass makes it very easy to do. We alternate days by reading a lesson one day, then doing review questions/activity/songs on the other day. We do the bigger fun activity when are done with the unit. We take off 1-2 weeks from regular lessons to do some of the suggested literature books. At this pace it means we will do book#1 one year and book#2 a 2nd year, but that is ok with us! Great program!

This is a very beautiful curriculum. It's laid out very clearly with lovely photos. It is a good intruduction to US History for younger ages and will prepare them for a more rigorous course in middle school. I love that we can do it in only three sessions per week and that it has read-alouds to go with it.

Only a couple weeks into star spangled American history with my 1st grade daughter and 4th grade son. It is just the right amount of text for their ages/stages! I feel like it gives us a load of “jumping off” points to lead to other beneficial discussion. Pictures are captivating. I appreciate the visuals and maps to aide their understanding. My 4th grader and I are adding the literature read-alouds as well as some other book suggestions from other curriculums to beef it up more for him. My 1st grader carries out more of the activity book but those are their learning styles. The rhymes and songs cd is nice and my toddler enjoys it and feels a part of it but it’s not necessary. We all agree the complete color timeline is awesome-my son pages through it on his own and is happy to not have to create his own! Overall it’s great-it’s ready for “open and go” or you can really adapt this to your child/children!!
