My experience with Med School Insiders was absolutely amazing! Starting with the initial 15-minutes consultation with Kevin Jubbal, everything just clicked. The level of personal connections made me feel very comfortable raising up any concerns I had. My advisor, Mikhail Attaar, offered me very extensive and constructive feedbacks. I was struggling with the theme of my personal statement in the beginning-- I sort of hinted my idea but not sure how to approach it and make it clear. After reading my very awful first draft and my answers to the pre-edit survey, Mikhail was able to pull out the thread of my personal statement and offered me very constructive advice to make my ideas more clear. One year ago, I thought my med school dreams were over. In fact, I thought my only chance were at Caribbean medical schools, simply due to my stats. I stumbled across Dr. Jubbal and Med School Insiders who became extremely helpful in giving myself a chance during my application cycle.
From crafting my personal statement and essays to preparing for my interview, I received invaluable feedback. Specifically, they worked one-on-one with me to help me find my story and theme for my application. Moreover, during my mock interview with Dr. Bari, I was provided with advice on how to better present my personal anecdotes and answer tough questions. He was very knowledgable about the factors that matter most to get into med school, and he gave great personal insight on how best to plan the rest of my college and gap year to maximize my chances of getting into a top school. I found the individual advising appointment to be super helpful! I got great advice from a surgical resident who's worked with medical school admissions committees in the past, and excellent pointers on what I can work on on a high level moving forward.

That being said, I felt that my advisor spent too much time on things that were not necessarily concerns to me, such as asking me to explain my shadowing experiences and a blip on my academic record, rather than the things I paid to get advice for, which were planning out my extracurriculars for the next year and understanding how I could become a more competitive applicant. Furthermore, a lot of the advice I received was pretty generic. While the service was definitely great, it was not at all what I was expecting, did not quite focus on my specific needs, and it felt as if I paid way, way too much for what I got out of the appointment in the end.

I am very impressed with Ryan's knowledge and skill in regards to the medical school application process! As a non-traditional applicant, Ryan was very helpful in teaching me the process and assisting me in creating a plan for the initial steps in pursuing my end goal of becoming a physician.
