I currently have the following iTunes cleaning and organizing software for acquiring music metadata and other pertinent informations for music: Song Kong Leawo Tunes Cleaner TuneUp Tagalicious I listed the programs by better to worse. Song Kong only got a 4.5 stars because the instructions need to be clearer especially in making choices under the "Monitor Watch Folder". It needs to be clarified as to what effect "File Naming" and "Format" options does to affect metadata. In my case I liked the old way the I could list my music by artist first, then by album. The options to do this within iTunes 11 may be part of the cause my album listing is hit or miss. But this is a minor detail. Also it would be nice to really under stand the purpose of the "Move Folder" function. It needs to be more clear as to why you need the move folder function to be activated. Other than that, Song Kong is by far the absolute king of software for finding missing data for all my music. The issues I referred to may be my misunderstanding. When I use the other programs, especially TuneUp, the list is a mess. ands Leawo Tunes Cleaner is better than Tuneup but not nearly as good as Song Kong. I have never seen with the other programs a flag (a small caps i inside a circle ) next to the song name and the song number, that designates a missing song. I'm not sure if Song Kong is the cause for this or not. But it is a neat feature that asks you if you want to find the missing song. Once you accept, you install the proper CD or as in my case, I have a File on several drives that is a copy of every album and CD. You point the program to the missing songs, Voila, the program retrieves the missing song and filles in other missing songs on the same CD. I have never seen this before I started using Song Kong. Song Kong isn't perfect, yet !, but issues remaining after the program has run is very minor compared with remaining effects of the other programs. Sorting out the minor issues after using Song Kong is far less time consuming problematic than with the other programs. lloken Song Kong i

This program (for me) shines because it allows me to work with files hands-on, with no changes being made until the end. It has every type of ID3 field you could hope for, such that (of course) most of them are never used. It can make many changes to individual files all at once, but not automatically, unless you are using the MusicBrains interface, which works perfectly for individual CDs, and I suppose, libraries that are neatly organized OR have significant ID3 info. (I have never tried it for multiple albums at once, and I am assuming what is what many of these negative reviews refer to: people looking to tag their whole iTunes library at once) Are you an iTunes refugee? Do you want to make your mp3s, FLAC files, or other audio media beautiful? Isn't VLC's or DB Poweramp's ID3 interface not comprehensive enough?; or is trying to make the changes manually within NTFS just an impossible drag? Then you will find the approximately $33 American dollars for this program well worth it! If you're just ripping CDs, after using the MusicBrains feature the only label you'll ever have to change again is the genre!

I have tried tons of different software products to "clean" my music collection. Songkong is the best. The best way to describe Songkong is that it build "intelligence" on top of Musicbrainz Picard to take all of the manual work out of cleaning your music collection. Songkong not only cleans, but monitors your collection as new songs get added. This "monitoring" allows you to just sit back and let it "poll" your music collection as it continues to grow. Songkong also optionally deletes duplicate songs. Songkong runs in Linux, Windows, and OSX. It uses 64-bit memory to take full advantage of your operating system. You can adjust the amount of memory it uses to further improve performance. The developer responds immediately, always less than 24 hours. He is open to suggestions for new features. You really feel like your working on a team with him rather than as a customer. He not only responds well in the forums, but answers personal email about any questions, problems, and suggestions for new features. Songkong has an "undo" feature that rolls back any changes you aren't happy with, though this rarely happens. Songkong build its own database for your collection, reducing the amount of times it must go and lookup data in Musicbrainz. If you are looking to take the manual work out of tagging your music collection, Songbrainz does the best job of any product I've used. If you want to run your own Musicbrainz server it also allows for this option. The developer has made many improvements in the past year to make it faster and more accurate. If it's been awhile since you've tried Songkong, I urge you to try it again. If you've never tried Songkong, give it a test drive and tell the author what you think. I guarantee you will get an immediate reply. It's an excellent value for the features that are built into the product. If one day you decide you want more control over your music, check out Jaikoz, another fantastic product by the same author.

I've tested most of the taggers for Mac and the one doing it all is Jaikoz. It's a complex application, so the ease of use is not that good. It took me some days testing with different settings to get the best results. The more you work with it, the more you realize how powerful Jaikoz is.

What the app can do is great (5 stars), but the app itself is not so great (3 stars). Be very careful and do things step-by-step.

Pros: versatile, lots of features. Cons: not free, large size, requires Java, the complex fields feature is useless to me.

When you think your iTunes library is clean... There's always a lot of ID3 junk somewhere you don't see in iTunes, until you need to import your songs into another software. Jaikoz is the tool you need if you want to clean up tags you don't need anymore and keep the good ones! Not really easy to use at first, but the more you explore it, the more you realize it can do everything you really need. Highly recommendable.

I adopted Jaikoz many years ago and dragging files in it it?s a necessary step to maintain my iTunes. It works very well and recognize quite every MP3. Sadly it has a Java GUI so it is ugly and slow :-) It is also not easy to use: every time you need something more then press CMD+1 or CMD+5 you have to navigate in preferences or menus hard to understand. An easier way to update would be also welcomed since the fast releases cycle.

Paid for it about 2 years ago. Very hit and miss. Only corrects 60% of stuff. Very slow and the GUI is clumsy. Now they want more money for an improved version when the rest of us paid for below average.

Great app for managing a massive music library. Still using the demo version though as $32 is a bit steep for me right now. Like anything though, you get out of it what you put into it. It's somewhat overwhelming at first, but if you take it slow, it's easy to understand and implement. Keep up the great work. And yes, the CDDB is improving regularly. Thanks, Don.

The program is extremely powerful. Can pull data from musicbrainz as well as discogs allowing one to auto tag their music. I am an avid collector of music and use it on an extremely large collection and it is a life saver on allowing me to tag things quickly. I find it really nice to be able to load around 10k files at once and then quickly select all the fields I don't like and clear them all out in one click. A lot of fields that most other programs don't even list. It also has an auto corrector feature that allows one to do multiple tasks in just 1 click of a button. This program is well worth the money for anyone wanting to fix up their music collection. I also love how the dev is very attentive to the forums and answers all posts personally, typically within 24 hours. Any time a bug is reported, I find he quickly will investigate the claim and fix it if there is a problem. I have been big into mp3 collecting and organizing for over 15 years now and have been using this program for over 3 years now. I have used most free and commercial products and this is by far the most powerful! Before this program I had to use half a dozen different programs to get all the functionality that I required. This program has eliminated the need for multiple programs and has become my sole tagging program I use.

This app is awesome for doing bulk id3 changes and corrections. The only complaint I have is that the database for music titles, names, etc. is not consistent; but, thankfully this is getting better over time. It is much more accurate labeling songs than it was 6 months ago. Definitely worth the money imo.

If you are serious about getting your music in order and you have a lot of files, this software is amazing. However it probably isn't for casual users or anyone who isn't fussy about having every field correct. On the other hand, if you really want to fix your metadata there is no software even close to this. I've tried every possible tool over a long period of time and nothing else is in the same league. Also, if you know what the Musicbrainz project is and you're inclined to help with it - this software is critical. It totally changed my level of participation and appreciation of Musicbrainz. Essential software for music geeks.

Free lifetime updates. Responsive developer. The best for getting into the guts of the music tagging system, including lyrics and album covers. One caveat: understanding the tagging system is not difficult, but if you want something with a simplified user interface, where you don't have to understand what's happening with the tagging system, then this is probably not for you. but try it anyway.

Slow as all Java apps are that are this size (oh how I hate Java but there is no other way to be platform this easily). As the author wants multiplatform so be it Java. That is the bad bit about this app it is S....L....O....W.... You should have seen it earlier in it's life cycle LOL compared then it is like a rocket now. I agree interface sucks but this is because of Java and the framework in use. Good bits are it's the BEST auto tagger on OSX I have used. So all the above SO WHAT you just load up a directory packed with tracks and let it do it's magic. It is not 100% but it is way above 95% in my experience. So all you do it clean the 5% by hand. So you dave 95% of tagging time with this app. Just run it when you going out or sleeping. If you want a hand tagger don;t bother with this it is way to slow for that and lacks a lot of "hand" features. But if you want auto tagging then go for this for sure. I have tagged thousands of tracks with it. Great app but it will never be your only tagging app.

Here's my take: I own a license to SongGenie and I thought I'd give Jaikoz a try to compare the two programs. I listen to mostly mainstream type music that should be easily identified by programs like these, and SongGenie was more accurate and filled in more missing metadata than Jaikoz. Not to say that Jaikoz is bad at it, but it's nothing to write home about. But the BIGGEST downfall of Jaikoz compared to more polished programs like SongGenie is the interface: ITS HORRIBLE. It follows NONE of Apple's User Experience guidelines, is slow to start up and quit, and is generally unappealing. You could have the most powerful program in the world, but it doesn't do much good if its too complicated for the average person to use. In contrast, SongGenie is beautiful, with a well-thought-out interface, and easy to learn.

Have had numerous Media Players over the last 12-13 years, Creative, Archos, Apple, Microsoft Zune etc. Have used many different types of software have a large Music And Audiobook collection in mp3 format these are ok. on Archos players because you can store and search via folders, but on Apple and Zune content is stored and searched via file tag information I therefore wanted software that would automaticaly tidy up file tag information as Jaikoz claims to do.Unfortunately (for me and I suspect lots of others who cannot be bothered to complain) 9 out of 10 albums uploaded into Jaikoz to tidy up are inaccurate individual files having different artist, album, genre and artwork information, even albums where the written infomation was 100% accurate and I was just after artwork upload were left with file information all over the place numerous albums, artists, genre's etc. etc. TOTAL WASTE OF TIME.

FLAMINBANANA is wrong, their free trial does have limitations. There's no README with the app that tells you so, nor any other indications (warnings on launch or even anything in the EULA that I can find), but it will bite you in the end. The trial will let you add and manipulate thousands of files to your heart's content (I waited 6 hours for it to run the "Auto Correct" feature on my library, not to mention a few hundred by-hand corrections), but then once you're done it will suddenly inform you it will only save all that data for 20 of the files. What a massive waste of my time. If you want to restrict the trial to 20 files at a time, that's no problem. Just do it like all the other apps do: only allow people to add 20 files. This seemed like a great app up until it decided to spring that BS on me from out of nowhere.
