She listened very carefully to what I said regarding the type of vacation my husband and I were interested in and she crafted an itinerary that accommodated our desires. I have not taken the trip yet - but as far as planning and advising - I give her 10 stars!!!!

My partner and I had been looking to book a trip for years but struggled to work through all the details ourselves. Our 2 week vacation (Galapagos + Peru) were among the greatest in our lives and Detour (and Kelly who was helping us!) did a remarkable job of orchestrating everything with multiple providers in a seamless manner. Despite very active schedule, multiple transfers and handovers between vendors, we never felt lost and didn't need to worry about planning anything. Strongly recommended!

We had a marvellous experience in Ecuador and on our cruise aboard the Majestic in the Galapagos. All the details had been arranged through Royal Galapagos Tours by Kelly Palmer of Detour Travel and worked seamlessly.
We arrived in Quito and had a one-day tour of the city including the Museum and the old city centre. Our guide was extremely personable, knowledgeable and shared his enthusiasm for what his country has to offer. Given the short time we had in Quito the tour provided a quick overview and is thoroughly recommended.
Our time in the Galapagos was spellbinding. The variety of landforms, wildlife and the sense of wonder Charles Darwin had written about were there to be seen and experienced. No one day or activity stands out as the highlight, all were fascinating. The Galapagos guide was superb and extremely considerate. His knowledge of the islands was encyclopaedic and he shared that knowledge willingly.
The captain and crew of the Majestic were also first-rate. The cooks catered for our dietary requirements and differences. The meals were varied, well-prepared and presented. The cabin was clean, comfortable and well serviced.
Unfortunately I had a fall (totally my fault) while on land and dislocated my finger. I received enormous assistance from the guide and fellow passengers at the time, the captain arranged for me to be looked at by a doctor on another vessel and then arranged for me to see another doctor on the next island. They made all the arrangements for transport from the Port to the doctor, overnight hotel accommodation and meeting up again the boat. Their concern and reaction were faultless and that goes for the company representative who coordinated the land components on the island as well.
Fortunately the injury did not prevent me from doing most of the activities for the rest of the cruise.
Following the end of our cruise we flew back to Quito and then transferred by car to the Bellavista Lodge in the Cloud Forest where we had a fascinating further 3 days. The lodge accommodation was excellent, the room was large with spectacular views and furnished very comfortably. Meals were served in the restaurant and were all high-quality. The guided bird tours were informative and involving. All of the staff were personable and caring for their clients. The owner of the resort was active with the guests and shared his knowledge and vision freely. Again I could not but give this Lodge the highest recommendation.

What an amazing trip! I appreciated the consistent follow up from Detour. The lists provided were excellent in planning for the trip. Even when our flight to Lima was cancelled Detour was there to help us along the way to make sure everything ran smoothly. The selection of the tour operator was excellent. They were very knowledgeable of the history, culture and the natural habitat of Peru. A blg thank you to Layna and Kelly for helping us make our trip perfect!

We recently returned from a combined Machu Picchu/Galapagos trip organized by Kelly and the folks at Detour Destinations. I don't believe I can say enough positive things about our experience. From the beginning, we received helpful and accurate information regarding the options for our trip. Throughout the process, we received ongoing emails with information to prepare us. At one point the airlines cancelled one of out flights and Detour and Exito travel were able to rebook. The travel companies recommended by Detour for both the Machu Picchu portion as well as the Galapagos portion were equally excellent. This included everything from the initial meeting at the airport, the knowledge of the guides during the trip, as well as the accommodations. We wanted to stay with in a certain budget and Detour was able to design a rip within that budget, and we did not feel we missed anything. I would highly recommend this company for similiar tours. This was a great experience. From our first phone call till the completion of the trip everything was very enjoyable. Detour helped us trough the organization and choosing the correct cruise. Ecoventura was the perfect choice for us because we had lots of activities and the crew was the best. This wasn't most people think of as a cruise. It was a yacht for 20 individuals interested in activities.

The trip was amazing and your partners in Peru are top notch. Really the best trip Ive ever taken. I felt like I was taken care of every step of the way. I would definitely do another trip with you guys.

Our experience with Detour was great! Kelly and Lanya were helpful, organized, responsive, on top of all our deadlines, and great and sending us plenty of well organized information so we would be prepared for our Galapagos adventure with everything we needed. It was a great experience and I wouldn't hesitate to use them for my next adventure!

Thank you Detour for offering, organizing and providing all components for a fantastic trip to Peru, specifically Lima, the Mira Flores district as a landing place, The Aria cruise on the Amazon and Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu. All vendors and accommodations were excellent. There were no hiccups in the entire 11 days! Fantastic customer service!!
