Chicken Poultry Nest Pad - AstroTurf (Large)
We purchased extra pads, not for use in nest box, instead we put them on the ramp to help keep the girls feet cleaner. We have used sand in the coop the last year and it waas great to keep feet drier and clean. We switched to hemp this winter and I knew I had to figure out something after trying to clean globs of mud and poop off several toes while they were trying to roost for the night. Then it dawned on me.... the purpose of the pad in the nest box is to keep things cleaner...and if there is poop...it dries really fast....sooooo..UREEKA! We attached a pad to the ramp up to the roost box!

I'm an 83 year old with very shaky hands, and if someone like me can assemble this nest box anyone can! We temporarily set it up on a layer of cement blocks in our chicken pen, and by the third day all nine of our chickens were using it. The chickens love it, and it only takes seconds to sanitize and wipe it down when we pick up their eggs. That's important to us since sanitation and cleanliness is such a major part of successful animal husbandry.
The Best Nest Box also saves a lot of time. We seldom have to wash an egg which has helped us to limit our daily chores to 10 minutes per day. In addition, we can go out of town if we so desire because our neighbors are more than willing to pick up fresh eggs if that's all they have to do.
In the Spring of 2019 we plan on starting up a rent to own chicken pen business, and a large Best Nest Box will definitely be included in each 5' X 15' roofed-over pen we sell.

Large Reversible Rollaway Nest Box
It was HARD to get the chickens to use the new nest box. At first they had a choice of the new one or the old nesters. Only 2 out of 35 chose the new one. We had a problem with egg eaters in our flock. the roll away would solve the problem, if the chickens would use it. So we bought a second roll away and took out all the old nesters. Now they were laying in the straw underneath the nesters. So we dropped a nester down so that they couldn't. (One still crawled underneath to lay her egg until the bedding got too deep). So they had a favorite corner to lay in. And a broody chicken to guard the eggs. But more hens were laying in the top rollaway!! So i put a bunch of straw in the lower rollaway (that blocks the rollaway action, but encourages laying in that location). I kept adding straw for about 2 weeks. Then we culled a few of the oldest (and bossiest) hens. After 2 months of checking for eggs every 2 hours, we finally had most of the chickens laying in the rollaway. Victory!

our chickens aren’t quite old enough to lay yet but putting it together and setting it up was very easy and feels like a nice sturdy nest. We have a low, small coop so we just cut a hole through the wall and placed ours on the floor.
