Today my first ride on Ampler Curt. Lost a screw of the front mudguard after only 3 km on asphalt. People were staring at me for the noise as if I was riding an old bike. Deception. I have to check all screws, as I do not trust the assemblage. The electric part of the bike is very nice. But even my oldest bicycle does not lose screws during a ride. This has also to do with trust. Decent bicycles do not fall apart during the ride.

Ich habe mein Radl heute erhalten und bin verliebt. Was für eine Technik Verliebtheit die sich puristisch ausdrücken darf. Mein Sohn fährt es schon eine Weile und ich bin froh das der Vater auf den Sohn hörte und ein Curt geordert hat. Über fehlende Klingel, Ständer und Schnickschnack, ist viel geredet und geschrieben worden. Ich meine, lieber anbauen als abmontieren. Diese Schlichtheit hat absoluten Stil. Danke Ampler.

I am struggling between 3 and 4 stars, but I have to admit its only 3 Stars. The bicycle rack has maybe a coolness factor, but from functionality point of view, its complete nonsense. You can’t really fix something on this rack, as the rubbers are coated with an ultra-extreme slippery fabric. So, 90% of the stuff you place on the rack will drop on the street after a few hundred meters of riding in the city. The second nonsense is the power button and riding mode button on the lower left side of the bike close to the crank. When riding you can’t change the support mode. You have to stop and play around with the one button does it all, or you have to open your smartphone and change the mode in the app of the smartphone (the Bluetooth connection can take a few minutes sometimes to connect.). Honestly, it would have been better if that one Button would have been placed at the top of that bike frame, so you can change the support while riding. Sounds crazy? no it isn’t. When starting at a traffic light it’s great to have a full support, to gain speed fast. While riding it’s enough to have less support and when riding in easy terrain its even nice to shut of support at all for a while. So, for a real cool city bike its essential, that you can easily change support mode while riding. This is not possible with the current ampler bike design.
Maybe they decide in future to add two things in there Shop (I would love it if they would), a small rechargeable button which can be strapped onto the handlebar, so you can switch support mode while riding easily and a second cool feature would be an uncoated rubber for the rack.
If you have extreme bumpy roads in your area, it would be cool to buy a Front fork suspension in the color of the bike, but that suspension thing is something you know, when you order the bike, so that’s not something to deduct a star.
Why am I not returning the bike?
because its still in a good price range,
Its still a light weight bike,
Its still a nice classic design,
I have ordered it via "Jobrad", which makes a return to complex.

Wonderful bike. Provides the exact support needed. And also not heavy and stylish!

wollte mir das Rad Stellar kaufen, leider ist auch der kleinste Rahmen S nicht für Menschen mit der Größe 160 cm und kleiner geeignet! Das ist wirklich schade und der Zustand, dass man die Sattelstütze auch nicht nach ganz unten schieben kann, da die darin verbauten LED-Lichter es nicht zulassen, ist einfach nicht wirklich funktional! Ich bin wirklich sehr enttäuscht von Ampler!

A good, light E-bike. The gear-ratio for the belt model could be more tuned to a higher cycle speed (if it is truly designed for flat city areas). The handlebars cannot be adjusted, so I’m quite ‘arched’ in the back because they are so low....and since I’ve had a prolapse (L4-L5), I will have to change the stem.
I’ve also changed the saddle to a softer and slightly broader type, without adding any weight.
The handgrips are cheap and uncomfortable that come with the bike, so I’ve changed those out too with ones that are moulded to a ‘flatter’ palm, distributing the weight on my hands more evenly (and hindering numbness).

All-in-all, a good bike, but I’m not sure I would have bought one in Norway if I had had the chance to test-ride (it was posted to me).
The drive train is smooth, but lacks the power of other motors in terms of torque (my previous Bosch Performance Line CX had way more pull), but for a ‘stealth e-bike’ things have to be compromised.

I teally wish the bike could have had more options when ‘building’ it....but I am happy with the purchase. The bike is fun, and simplified, and easy to use with or without the app.

Delivery time not respected. After several emails to Ampler, I’m still waiting for my bike. This is funny because I had pre-ordered and then renounced to a Vanmoof x3 because they kept on delaying the delivery date.

I think ampler bikes would sell well in Luxembourg, why not find a reseller here? People ask me what cool bike i have here.

On the whole, I really love this bike. Its comfortable & the motor is so helpful.
If I could change anything, I would like a "hill mode". I live in a really hilly area and there is not enough assistance, even on top assistance, for super steep hills. If it could detect when you are in 1st gear doing 1km/h and really struggling it would be perfect. I tried re-setting the torque as per the manual, but no difference. Maybe something an App update could fix Ampler?
I would really like an integrated lock too.
But mostly, it's a great bike.

I really like the bike. Riding bike without much effort and reaching my destination almost like using public transportation in Berlin. While testing 2 hours I didn't notice before but even after 50km I haven't used to be on sporty riding position. Always have your neck overstretched.
Rear mud guard is not in line with rear wheel.

What a cool bike!
Beginning with an app which can be handled super easy, continuing with the smart controlled electric engine and ending on a bike which rides stable forward and has no troubles with curves.
Many thanks to You and congratulations for that bike.
Hopefully the story with my Curt will continue in this way.

Controls are awful. App pretty useless.
Had high hopes, but will be returning it.
Build quality impressive though.

Amazing bike. Super fast. Every now and then, it feels like the assist isn’t kicking in for some reason, I don’t know if it’s a calibration thing but because it’s easy to ride without assist, it’s not a massive issue, but the issue is there. Other than that, solid bike. Oh I changed the seat though because the stock seat destroyed my soul.

I've ordered the Ampler Stout online after testing the bike in Amsterdam. Ampler has kept its promise to deliver the bike within 14 days. After an appointment with the logistics company a big box was delivered to my doorstep. I've been using the Stout for 14 days now on a daily basis and I drove approximately 500 km on it.

Setting up the bike is quite easy, follow the simple instructions on the box and you should be on your way quickly. All the tools are in de box. A funny detail: while I was installing the 2 pedals on the crank I thought about applying a little bit of crease. I was happily surprised to find out that the Ampler mechanic had already applied a bit of crease in the holes on the crank. To me it shows that the Ampler mechanic did put a great effort in manufacturing the bike. It's in those little details where the bike stands.

The bike and it's components are high quality and work together well. I am living in the coastal area of the Netherlands. We don't have mountains, but we do experience strong wind. (windmills :-) So far the rear motor has always be sufficient in combination with the 10 gears. At 25 km ph the support goes down gradually. The motor is extremely quiet. I was able to get a 80 km range out of a full battery. That's more than 3 hours of biking with full support. This suits my needs. Keep in mind you can't remove the battery for the purpose of charging it. You need electricity in the place where you are going to park your bike regularly.

Using the Stout without motor support is very well possible. Actually I did bike on some occasions as friends don't have an e-bike. With the relative low weight of 17 kg and 10 gears you will still be able to have a comfortable ride.

The brakes on the Stout work well and there have been a few occasions that I was happy to have them. The slightly wider Continental tires create a comfortable and grippy ride.

So, is all great?

Well in my honest opinion the Ampler app could use some improvement on reliability. My Android phone does connect to the bike quickly. However on some occasions my recorded drive was not saved in the app. That shouldn't happen. As for tracking my velocity and distance while biking I rely on my GPS sports watch.

The open chain system isn't really a problem for me as I am using the bike mostly for leisure rides. Ampler doen't sell chain guards for the Stout. Daily commuting in a suit or expensive trouser probably isn't a perfect combination.

This bike is a beauty! But it doesn't come with a bike lock. Make sure you buy one.

This is one of the best things I've ever bought, and by a long way the best bike I've ever owned. The build quality is outstanding, and everything has been so carefully thought out. It also looks the business - the anodised green is REALLY nice.

Even without the power it rides better than my old Cube hybrid, but with the assistance turned on it's an absolute blast to ride. I live in a very hilly part of South London, and had stopped cycling because the hills are just brutal. The Stout eats the hills for breakfast. You're still puffing a bit at the top of the biggest slopes, but they're completely do-able, and sailing uphill past the lycra lads on my stealthy Ampler is great fun.

It was a choice between this and the new Van Moof, and I'm totally satisfied I made the right choice. In short, the Stout has got me back in the saddle and I can't recommend it highly enough. It's a superb bike.

Short version: very happy with it! 3000km and counting.

If you want a full review: We bought the ampler over a year ago. Use it every day to commute 15km + 15km. No issues with it, very low maintenance and I have the certainty I will reach the office within 38’ to 40’ irrespective of the weather or how my legs feel.
I always ride it in boost mode, and still have 60+ Kms of autonomy (usually charge it every night but can also do two days in one charge).
The water protectors are great as well. Of course on rainy days you need to wear water pants but if it’s just wet you don.t need to worry about splashes.
I did ran out of battery on one occasion (Due to bad charging planning, not because of unexpected loss of range) and still made it home in the same amount of time (and a bit sweaty) but it was not a drama or anything like that.
Best of all is the appearance. When you tell people you have an electric bike they make their own picture in their heads, only to be blown away when they see it. “What, this one? Where’s the battery??”.

I only regret not getting the extra lock that you can add at checkout, because you will need a lock anyway and better if it’s nicely mounted, instead of semi loose in the back.
